Episode 17: The Animated Series
Wednesday Jan 10, 2018
Wednesday Jan 10, 2018
The Spocklight crew travel back to the 1970s as we take a look at everyone's least watched iteration of Trek in our continuing mission to analyse the franchise from a non-Trekkie perspective. It's The Animated Series!
As the boys watch series Pilot, 'Beyond the Farthest Star' and the Emmy award winning, 'How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth', Liam ponders how kids would have reacted to the animated equivalent of The Motion Picture, Paul notes how even in cartoon form, Shatner is still stealing the spotlight from his co-stars, while Matt thinks the shortened runtime makes the stories feel like they're 'all mission, all the time'
Misunderstood classic or a series of recycled shots of so called “animation”? Download now to find out!

Supplemental 6: Interview with Richard Donner
Tuesday Dec 05, 2017
Tuesday Dec 05, 2017
In a very special episode, Liam, Matt and Paul are joined by legendary Director, Richard Donner, for an Exclusive interview.
Richard talks us through his illustrious career, from directing episodes of almost every classic American television show of the 50s, 60s and 70s to helming such iconic films as The Omen, Superman: The Movie, The Goonies and Lethal Weapon to his current Producing role.
But why doesn't Richard consider The Omen to be a Horror movie? How does he think that modern technology has changed blockbuster film-making? Will there ever be a sequel to The Goonies? Which of his movies does he consider to have been overlooked? Is Lethal Weapon 5 really happening?! The answers to all these questions and much more await you.
Download now and you'll believe a man can podcast.

Episode 15: Discovery
Wednesday Nov 08, 2017
Wednesday Nov 08, 2017
WARNING! This episode contains full spoilers for the first two episodes of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ so if you’re waiting to binge and you care about spoilers come back and listen after you’ve watched ‘The Vulcan Hello’ and ‘Battle at the Binary Stars’.
It’s the beginning of Phase 2 of the Spocklight crew’s journey into the Star Trek universe from a Non-Trekkie perspective as we finally take on the TV Shows, starting with the latest iteration, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
Liam bemoans the loss of the female friendship at the centre of the new show and points out how we eerily predicted plot points in our crossover appearance on Adam Johnston’s 'Pretending With Dice' Podcast playing the new ‘Star Trek Adventures’ game from Modiphius. Paul is excited to see Trek taking risks and finds himself comparing Discovery with The Dark Crystal and Mass Effect. Whilst Matt gets blindsided by a big twist and wonders if the showrunners were taking cues from Doctor Who's treatment of story mythos and everyone struggles to engage with the bloody Klingons.
How relevant is Trek in today's TV landscape? Does it live up to its own legacy? Discover the answers by downloading our new episode now!

Supplemental 5: Speculation for Star Trek 4
Thursday Oct 26, 2017
Thursday Oct 26, 2017
Join us as we discuss the fate of the next movie in the Kelvin timeline in our latest Supplemental episode.
Will Chris Hemsworth’s George Kirk beam back into the series from beyond the grave? Will Quentin Tarantino rein in his use of the N-word for the opportunity to direct a Trek movie? Will Karl Urban get his wish of exploring the McCoy family and could that mean a return of their famous Tennessee smoked baked beans to the franchise? Will JJ ever fulfil his commitment to Paramount? Will there ever even be another Star Trek movie?!
No answers but a ton of rambling speculation about these questions and more await you.

Episode 14: The Movies - Ranked
Wednesday Oct 11, 2017
Wednesday Oct 11, 2017
The results are in! Join us (and long dead film critic Mr. Halliwell, beaming in from beyond the grave) as we rank all 13 Star Trek movies, based on our average combined scores.
Has watching all of the movies converted any of the Spocklight crew to the status of bonafide Trekkie? Is there really no comparison to ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’? Will Mr. Halliwell give ANY film in the series a single star? The Answers to all these questions and more can be found in this grand culmination of the first mission of the USS Spocklight.

Thursday Sep 21, 2017
In a special episode to celebrate the 35th Anniversary re-release of 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' we're joined by the film's Producer, Robert Sallin, for an exclusive interview.

We also delve into the rest of Robert's glittering Hollywood career, including directing Albert Finney in 'The Picasso Summer', winning the Grand Prix at the 1970 Venice film Festival for his classic Camay commerical, stepping in as the 2nd Unit Director on 'Assassins' for Richard Donner and more showbiz anecdotes than you can shake a Klingon at - Ridley Scott, Eddie Murphy, John Candy, they're all here. Friday Sep 15, 2017
Friday Sep 15, 2017
Rev those engines and cue up your classical music cause we're tellin’ y'all, it's Star Trek Beyond!
Liam bemoans the trend of pathetic lip service to gay characters in Hollywood Blockbuster cinema and wishes Kirk had kicked off the Beasties assault with a 'KICK IT!' Paul notices the sexual bias towards green women on the Enterprise and Matt chuckles at McCoy’s attempts at product placement and thinks Pine gives fantastic ‘getting battered’ face.
We’re also joined by Treehouse Digital’s Thomas Saville, the linchpin of Star Trek fan film, Ambush (Written and Directed by previous Guest, Greg Lock) as we journey to infini…we mean BEYOND!
